Why you should make the switch to the safety razor.

One of the simplest bathroom swaps you can make when getting started on your zero waste journey, is switching from plastic disposable razors to the safety razor.

Below we’ve listed our top reasons to inspire you to make the switch.

Reduce your environmental footprint

Unfortunately, billions of plastic razors and cartridges are thrown away every year. They cannot be recycled, as the metal is embedded in plastic. So, all this plastic is burned or ends up in nature. This is a disaster for the environment.

Since our safety razors themselves withstand a lifetime of use, only the blades need to be replaced and these blades are fully recyclable. They can easily be collected in a blade bank which can, once full, be recycled in its entirety.

 A closer, more comfortable shave

A standard safety razor gives a high quality, close shave with very little irritation. The weight of the razor and a good pre-shave oil mean less pressure and less scraping. The blades are easier to clean meaning less chance of infection, bumps and ingrown hairs.

Saves money

The initial price of a safety razor is a bit more expensive than if you were purchasing a packet of disposables, but think of it as an investment. After spending the $49.95 for the reusable razor you’ll only need to purchase blades from there on out. The safety razor itself, if cared for correctly should last you close to a lifetime. Our blades work out to cost 70 cents each. We replace ours once every 3-4 weeks.

 Enjoy your shaving ritual

Shaving with a safety razor can be a more enjoyable, almost a meditative zen-like experience due to the required concentration and skill involved in obtaining the perfect shave.  Add to that the aromas and sensations of the soaps, creams, and oils you are likely to use.

More aesthetically pleasing

A sleek, minimalist safety razor is much more aesthetically pleasing than a bright pink or blue plastic razor.

Support small business

By purchasing from a small business, you are helping to improve local economies over large corporations, and you'll get an improved, personalised level of customer service.
